Set to Sea 32
The story so far…
Our friend Kyle is in town – we hung out with him a little today, and hopefully more tomorrow night.
I’ve been getting a lot of hits from a site called “Stumbleupon,” but I can’t seem to figure out why. Did anybody out there find my site from Stumbleupon?
And the big news of the moment – I seem to have lost my coupon book job, after more than four years! Apparently a big coupon book franchise bought out my boss’s independent operation (I don’t know the details.) So now I’ve either got to look for another job, or finally try to make a go of it with this “professional artist” thing. I’m hoping I can pull off the latter.
Ah, it’s the end of an era.
shit dude sorry to hear that hopefully you can make a go of it with just your art but if not there still is the theatre. wang
Hey Drew, sorry to hear about you losing your job. However I think it’s for the best. Now you have no reason to really go for proffessional artistry – you’ve more than got what it takes. You are one of my favourite artists, if not my actual favourite, and it’d be great to see you make a living out of doing what you love.
Go for it Drew!
Cheers,
Si
Obviously that was supposed to be “no reason not to” not “no reason to”! Whoops!
Hey, just read your comment about being ‘stumbled upon’. I’m one of those people who found your site that way.
I use stumble through a plugin for Firefox. Essentially you create a profile for the sort of stuff that interests you, and once you’ve done so you can submit sites that you find to the stumble system. The other half of the equation is to use the ‘stumble’ button. This picks a random page for one of the fields that you’re interested in and loads it into your browser.
So clearly someone found your site and added it to the stumble list, and then you get folks like me passing by.
Like the site by the way. Nice tree illustrations! :o)
Sorry to hear about the loss of the coupon book job — best of luck with whatever comes next. Your new artwork looks great by the way …

Thanks, guys, for the compliments and “condolences.” Trust me, as inconvenient as it is, I’m almost glad to finally move on. And thanks for the clue-in about Stumbleupon!
Another stumbler here. I can add that each person that “stumbles” upon your site by pushing the stumble button has a choice of hitting “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” after visiting your site. The more people that press thumbs up because they like the site, the more other stumble users with similar interest profiles will get transfered to your site when they press the stumble button. If more people press the thumbs down your site will be pushed down in the list of sites that are likely to come up when you press the stumble button.
It has some similarities with sharing your bookmarks on the del.icio.us website. If thats familiar.
I have comics selected in my profile, I will give your site a thumbs up :-)
