Survey
I don’t know about these blog survey things, but I’ll be a good sport for Robert.
1 ) Total number of books owned?
Somewhere between 800 and 1200, I’m too lazy to do an actual count. That’s counting the reference books, kid’s books, and graphic novels too, though.
2) The last book I bought?
I bought a whole bunch of books at a library book sale a month or two ago, and I’m still working though them all. I can’t remember ’em all, but some of the ones sitting on the “to be read” shelf are Nabokov’s Lolita, Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Marquez’s Love in the Time of Cholera and a book of Oscar Wilde short stories. It’s not that I’m incredibly intellectual, I just read all of the quick and easy ones already.
3) The last book I read?
I think the last book I read through was the big Bone “One Volume Edition” I’ve had since Christmas. I had a good three quarters of the individual issues, but I wanted the whole thing in one place. I have to admit that it didn’t turn out as a whole story as well as I had hoped. Smith kept introducing new plot elements up until the end, and didn’t tie up half of the threads from the beginning in very satisfying ways. Maybe I would have liked it better if I had kept up with the individual issues.
4) Five books that mean a lot to me:
Hmm… if I were going to answer this question honestly, the books that I was most deeply affected by were all lousy Young Adult Fantasy/Sci Fi Novels that I was addicted to in my impressionable youth. So to spare myself the shame, I’ll skip this one. Maybe I’ll think up some self-flattering titles later on.
5) Tag 5 people and have them put this in their journal:
I’m pretty sure that people who perpetuate blog memes get condemned to hell.

In other news, how retarded is it that I’m actually excited about the new Star Wars movie? I thought I was over all that.
Also, I have hell of a big ingrown toenail. Maybe I should see a podiatrist.
Hey man, there’s no shame in loving young adult fantasy/sci-fi books that touched you in your impressionable years. After all, they helped shape you into the healthy geek you are today! *grins* I’m sure we all have some sort of equivalent…
Oh yeah, sorry for accidentally ditching you on AIM, something important came up and when I was able to get back you were gone. Oh well.
You should make an appointment with a podiatrist. The couple of days worth of pain and ~$80 it will take to get the thing cut out is way worth it compared to the months of painful toe-stubbing awaiting you (added to the months/years you’ve probably already been enduring).
anonymous I think your ploy is transparent to us.
Damn, podiatrists are a shameless lot!
Fancy wheedling for business via someone’s blog & not having the guts to show oneself. :|
